How family members are invited to the family
The Primary Family Member is responsible for setting up the family at the time of registration.
There are instances where this may not have been done, or a user may need help adding someone to their family.
Invite members to a family
Option A: The member to be invited has an inactive account with your organisation
- Open the profile of the Primary Family Member.
- Click on the Family Tab
- Select an empty slot and click the 'person +' icon
- Enter the members email address and click 'Next'
- They will be sent a welcome email containing the family code that they can use to join the family. (They will not be auto-added for privacy reasons)
Option B: The member to be invited has an account with another organisation
- Open the profile of the Primary Family Member.
- Click on the Family Tab
- Select an empty slot and click the 'person +' icon
- Enter the members email address and click 'Next'
- Click 'Add Family Member'
- They will be sent a welcome email with instructions on how to log in. They will remain marked as 'inactive' until they accept the invite. (see 'Manually accepting a family invite' below)
Option C: The member to be invited has an active account with your organisation
- It is not possible to add an active member to a family (i.e: if they have their own membership with your organisation)
- This member would need to be deactivated by the admin first
- They can then follow the steps under Option A above
Manually accept a family invite
- If a family member added has an account with another organisation, Option B above applies. If they do not accept their invite, they will show as inactive in the main members list.
- Under the Family Tab, an aeroplane icon will show, indicating that an email invite has been sent but not accepted.
a. See below example: kiwisue@mailinator.com has been invited by the Primary Family Member, but has not yet accepted the invite.
b. To accept the invite manually, click on the green icon to the right of their details.
Note: Invites do not expire, However, the invite code will no longer be valid to join a family once that family's membership term has expired. i.e: after 12 months.
