Advance activation

Advance activation allows users to buy a membership / pass in advance and select the exact date they want it to start.

If your organisation offers membership in the form of day passes, short term membership, or visitor memberships, the advance activation feature is a really helpful option.

This feature is available for Individual, Family and Group memberships.

The membership activates automatically at 12:15 am on the date the member has chosen.

EXAMPLE

In this example below the membership is 14 days duration.

  1. Go to Settings > membership settings
  2. Create a new Individual membership and give it a name and slug
  3. Navigate to the Advanced tab and set the following options.
  4. Duration: In the second column, select 'Is custom duration' and enter 14 into the box and use the drop down to select 'Days' (the options are days or months).
  5. Activation: In the second column, select 'Allow future start date' and enter how far in advance you would like this package to be able to be purchased. You may want this to be up to a year in advance, or just a few months. (The options are days or months).

Then select 'Editable start date' if you wish the user to be able to change the start date once they have paid. They can change this as many times as they like until the membership activates.

Select 'Allow user to activate manually' if you want the user to be able to hit 'activate' at any time and start the membership before the activation date (this overrides the date they have set).

  1. In the third column, select 'Has custom expiration email' to create a custom message that will be sent to the user upon expiry of their membership. The message can be entered under the next tab 'Custom Expiration Messages'.

Note: Setting this up does mean that the user will not receive the standard automated expiry messages

Once the user has paid and before their membership is active they will see this red 'countdown' screen in the app.

If they click on the date, they can select a different date for the start of their membership at any time.

If the user clicks on 'Activate now', a pop up box will prompt them to confirm that they want the membership to start now.
