Branded app - how QR codes work
Please note: This is for branded app (QMTBC, NMTBC, Trails) QR Codes. Do not read this if you use the Hivepass app.
QR codes give users a way to quickly and easily register with your organisation simply by scanning a QR code.
In order to scan a QR code the user just needs to open the camera app and point it at the QR code.
If the user does not have one of the branded apps or the Hivepass app installed it will open https://member.hivepass.app/ with a branded version for the branded apps e.g. https://member.hivepass.app/?ts=qmtbc.
Try it out
- Log out of the Hivepass app.
- Uninstall the Hivepass app (optional).
- Open the camera app and point at the QR code below.
- If a user has the branded app installed the QR code will open the app and take them to the specified screen.
- If the user does not have the branded app but has the Hivepass app then it will open in the Hivepass app.
- If the user does not have any of the apps installed it will open https://member.hivepass.app/.
- If the QR code or QR code url is opened on desktop it will take the user to https://member.hivepass.app/
Normally QR codes are used to take the user to the registration screen. Sometimes with additional data such as a specific membership package or location associated with the QR code. QR codes can also be used for digital waivers and in the future will be used for donations, events and products.
Url / link
The QR also has a url that can be used. Opening the url will behave exactly the same as if the QR was scanned. Give it a try: https://member.hivepass.app/nmtbc/register?ts%3Dnmtbc
Benefits
QR codes provide a simple and fast way for users to register for your organisation. QR codes can be placed in various locations such as trails, shops, even bumper stickers where users can scan them and join. Organisation administrators can track how many users scan them, register via them and where the physical location of the QR codes is.
