How Hivepass QR codes work
QR codes in Hivepass give users a way to quickly and easily register with your organisation simply by scanning a QR code.
They don’t even need the Hivepass app installed on their device.
In order to scan a QR code, the user just needs to open the camera app and point it at the QR code.
Try it out
- Log out of the Hivepass app.
- Uninstall the Hivepass app (optional).
- Open the camera app and point at the QR code below.
If a user has the Hivepass app installed the QR code will open the app and take them to the specified screen. If the user does not have the Hivepass app installed then it will take them to the appropriate app/play store and when they install and first open the app, it will continue to the specified screen. See diagram below.
If the QR code or QR code url is opened on desktop it will take the user to https://member.hivepass.app/
Normally QR codes are used to take the user to the registration screen. Sometimes with additional data such as a specific membership package or location associated with the QR code. QR codes can also be used for digital waivers and in the future will be used for donations, events and products.
Url / link
The QR also has a url that can be used. Opening the url will behave exactly the same as if the QR was scanned. Give it a try: https://go.hivepass.app/7Drh
Benefits
QR codes provide a simple and fast way for users to register for your organisation. QR codes can be placed in various locations such as trails, shops, even bumper stickers where users can scan them and join. Hivepass administrators can track how many users scan them, register via them and where the physical location of the QR codes is.
