Combining memberships into a family

A user may wish to combine their individual membership with an existing family membership (scenario 1), or change their own individual membership into a new family membership (scenario 2).

Scenario 1: Combine an individual member account with an existing family account

This can be done in the Hivepass app by following these steps.

  1. Wait until the individual membership has expired
  2. As the Primary family account, log in to the Hivepass App
  3. Click on the family icon on the digital membership card > Edit My Family
  4. Increase Family Size if necessary to create an empty slot
  5. Add Family Members > enter the individuals email address (Hivepass will recognise the email and check the status of that member. Note: An active member cannot be added here, so if the member is not expired, it will not work.
  6. Save and Finish
  7. The new individual is now part of your family. An invite has been sent to them with instructions on how to log in on their own device using the family code and join the family.

If the family membership has also expired the process is very similar to the above.

  1. Log in to Hivepass
  2. Click 'Register Now' or similar - black button on red inactive screen (this will go straight to the family details /payment screen)
  3. Select 'Add a Family Member'. Add the individual members email address to add their account to the family. Note: An active member cannot be added here, so if the member is not expired, it will not work
  4. Save and Finish
  5. Proceed to payment as normal
  6. The new individual is now part of your family. An invite has been sent to them with instructions on how to log in on their own device using the family code and join the family.


Scenario 2: Change an individual membership into a family membership under the same email address

This can be done in the Hivepass app by following these steps.

  1. Wait until the individual membership has expired
  2. Log in to Hivepass and click Register Now' or similar - black button on red screen
  3. Agree to waiver (if applicable)
  4. At the top of the address details screen, click 'Change'
  5. Select a family membership
  6. Add family members (family members with emails must not have a current active membership to be able to be added)
  7. Save and Finish > Proceed to payment as normal.

Note: This only applies to 12 month memberships only, not recurring memberships which do not expire.
