Update a piggyback account to a new account

How to update piggyback family members to new members with their own account using alias email addresses

Families who have piggyback family members without their own email address can create an alias email address to allow them to have their own account on Hivepass. This means that essentially you are able to use one email address for multiple accounts. Here's an article about alias email addresses.

For the example below, the Primary family member has the address adenakiwi@mailinator.com. The alias used for the child of the family is adenakiwi+1@mailinator.com. Any emails sent to this address with arrive to the primary email address above.

Tip: The details below can be sent to your members to show them how to do this.

Follow these steps to update piggyback family members to members with their own email address/account.

  1. Log into Hivepass on your device
  2. On the digital card screen, click on the family icon
  3. Select 'Edit my family'
  4. Children with no email address with be labelled 'Piggyback account - no email'
  5. Click on the Edit icon of the family member you want to update
  6. Remove member. Confirm by selecting 'Remove'. This means that you still have space in your family for this member - you do not need to pay for them again
  7. Select Add family Members
  8. Add your family member back in, this time with an email address. The alias we are using here is the Primary family members email, with a +1 added. i.e: adenakiwi+1@mailinator.com
  9. Save & Finish. (Note: If this membership requires a waiver, you will be asked to agree to it again as you have added a new minor to your family)
  10. You will now see your family member with 'New account' and their email listed below. They can now log in to their own device or their parent/guardians device and link to the family using the family code. An email will have arrived in the regular inbox for adenakiwi@mailinator.com with joining instructions.

The main benefit of the member having their own account is that they can now register for events via Hivepass on a device.
