Why you can’t attach files to campaigns
Most email marketing platforms (Mailchimp, Campaign Monitor, Constant Contact, etc.) don’t allow file attachments in bulk emails because attachments often get blocked by school/work filters and can hurt deliverability. Hivepass follows this industry best practice.
The simple workaround is to put the file online and add a link in to it in the body of the newsletter (e.g., “Download the waiver (PDF)”). Our Newsletter article here details how to add and customise links.
Option A — Google Drive (quickest)
-
Upload the file to Google Drive.
Right-click > Get link > set to Anyone with the link – Viewer.
Copy link, then paste it into your Hivepass email as a button or link.
- Example button text: Download the waiver (PDF, 320 KB)
-
- Option B — Dropbox
-
Upload > Share > Copy link (make sure anyone with the link can view).
Paste into your Hivepass email.
- Optional: change the end of the link from
?dl=0to?dl=1for a direct download.

- Option C — OneDrive
- Upload > Share > Anyone with the link can view → Copy link.
- Paste into your Hivepass email.
-
Option D — Your club website
If your site has a files/documents area, upload the PDF there and link to it.
đź’ˇTips:
- Use PDF for forms/flyers and keep it under ~2 MB.
- Name files clearly (e.g.,
Trail-Day-Waiver-2025.pdf). - Tell readers what they’re clicking: “Download the map (PDF, 450 KB)”.
- If the link asks people to sign in, change sharing to Anyone with the link.
