πŸ’Έ Accepting donations via Hivepass

If your organisation accepts donations then you can add a link to your website to allow people to donate.

✏️ Add Donation Info

It's important to provide transparency about how donations will be used. Clear and detailed explanations can significantly boost supporter confidence and increase donations.

🧱 Optional: Set up donation projects

Projects help supporters direct their donation to a specific initiative (e.g. new trail building, maintenance, signage).

  1. Turn on donation projects in (if not on): (General) Settings > Application Settings

  1. Create and manage your projects in: Resources > Projects. They will appear on the donate.hivepass.app web page.

🚫 Note: Projects currently only appear on the web version of the donation page, not in the mobile app. App support is coming soon.

πŸ”‘ Finding your project slug

Each project has a slug. This is the short, unique part of the URL that identifies it. You'll need it if you want to make a direct link to that project.

  1. Go to Resources > Projects in the Admin App
  2. Click on the project you want
  3. Look for the Project Slug field (this can be edited).
  4. Copy this slug to use in your custom donation link (see more below).
Example of project slug for the project 'pumpy'

You can create special links that go directly to a project or even pre-fill a donation amount. This is especially useful for marketing emails, social media posts, or adding a e.g. "Donate $20 to this project" button on your website.

Here's how it works:

These custom donation links make it easy to share tailored options, such as:

  • "Support our Gorge Trail project. Donate $20 today"
  • "Quick donate $50 to [your organisation]"

You can use these links anywhere -  in newsletters, on social media, or as buttons on your website.

πŸ’‘ Custom donation links can boost conversions because they make donating effortless. When people don't have to think about what amount to give or which project to choose, they're far more likely to complete their donation on the spot.

πŸ“± Create a donation QR code

Want to encourage donations at physical locations? You can create a QR code that links directly to your donation page.

  1. Go to Resources > QR Codes > QR codes List
  2. Click New QR Code in the top right
  3. Select Donation
  4. Once created, download the QR code and test it before distribution

You can print this QR code and place it at trail hubs, events, or partner businesses.

πŸ§ͺ Test first! Make sure your QR codes work before sharing them publicly.

πŸ”„ How it works for users

  • If the user has the Hivepass app, the link opens in the app and they can donate with no Hivepass fee.
  • If the user doesn’t have the app, they are taken to the web donation page, https://donate.hivepass.app/ and a 2.5% Hivepass fee applies.

Here's what users will see when they go to your donation page:

    Step 1: Visit https://donate.hivepass.app/

Users arrive at the Hivepass donation home page. They can search for or tap on your organisation.

Step 2 : Select the club they wish to donate to

Once selected, they'll see your donation info and available donation options.

Step 3: Choose your donation project (if applicable) and donation amount

Donors can select a preset amount or enter a custom one. If donation projects are enabled, they can choose where their contribution goes.

Step 4: Secure Stripe Checkout

They'll be taken to Stripe's secure checkout page to complete their payment.
